T. E. Gilbert Rites Were Held At Home Sunday Afternoon
Death Occured [sic] Last Thursday At Age of 82 Years
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 for T. E. Gilbert, better known as "dad" among his friends, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. G. Lofholm, with Rev. M. H. Knobloch officiating. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Gilbert died at his home at 6:30 o'clock December 26, at the age of 82 years and seven months. He had lived in this vicinity about 40 years.
Mr. Gilbert was born at Coldwater, Michigan on May 1, 1858. He left Michigan as a young man and came west where at Sidney, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Miss Viva Newell on February 1, 1881. To this union were born six children. The five surviving are A. L. Gilbert of Grand Junction, Colo., Mrs. Dena Roberts of Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. L. G. Lofholm of Loup City, James C. Gilbert of Glendale, Calif., and Earl B. Gilbert of Kansas City, Kans.
There are also ten grand children, seven great-grandchildren and many friends by whom he will be greatly missed.
