Educator/artist/author. Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Colorado at Boulder. B.S., New York Universisty, 1928; M.A., University of Colorado at Boulder, 1930 (Thesis: Costuming of Shakespeare's Plays (1590-1610); A Study of the Text and Stage Directions of Thirty Plays). Born Muriel Vincent Sibell, and known after her marriage as Muriel Sibell Wolle. As an artist, Wolle produced illustrations of ghost town landscapes. As a writer, among her many publications, she authored Stampede to Timberline: The Ghost Towns and Mining Camps of Colorado, and, Montana Pay Dirt: A Guide to the Mining Camps of the Treasure State. Appointed to deliver the 1947 Lecture on Research and Creative Work at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Wolle received the Robert Sterns Award from the University of Colorado in 1966-This award recognizes members of the faculty and staff for extraordinary achievement or service. The Muriel Sibell Wolle Fine Arts building on the Boulder campus was named in her honor-it has subsequently been demolished in 2008 to enable the construction of the Visual Arts Complex, and The Muriel Sibell Wolle Gallery, which displays various artists and exhibitions, is located in the St. Aidan's Episcopal Church in Boulder, Colorado and opened March, 2009-her husband Francis pastored at this church. The Muriel Sibell Wolle Collection is housed in Norlin Library, University of Colorado at Boulder. Married Professor Francis Wolle in 1945.
