Erma Dixon Agnew, 91, R.R.2, Westport, died Wednesday, July 25, at 11:08 p.m., in the Bartholomew County Hospital in Columbus, having been in failing health since February.

Mrs. Agnew was born March 19, 1893, near Westport, the daughter of F.L. and Sophronia Boicourt Dixon. Reared near Westport, she attended Westport High School. She resided a major portion of her life on a farm in Jackson Township, with the exception of three years when she lived on a farm in Montana.

She was an active member of the Sardinia Baptist Church and belonged to the Women's Bible Class and the Esther Missionary Society of the church. She was a member of the Tri-Community Homemakers Club.

She was married to Harry Agnew in January of 1911, and he preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1942. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Cecil (Edna) Houze, Sardinia, and Mrs. Dallas (Opal) Barton, Tempe, Ariz.; one son, Charles D. Agnew, R.R.2, Westport; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; two sisters: Mrs. Raymond (Lennie) Hern and Mrs. Maude Castor, both of Sardinia.

She was preceded in death by three daughters: Mildred and Helen Agnew, and Mrs. Mabel Overmyer.

The services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sardinia Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Allbritten, a retired Baptist minister from Martinsville officiating, assisted by the Rev. Steve Beasley, and with burial in the Westport Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Bass Funeral Home in Westport, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday at the church. The family suggests that memorials be in the form of contributions to the Sardinia Baptist Church.
