Mr. Smith died Monday [May 13, 1963] at the AuSable Valley Home, Fairview. He was a retired farmer, lumberman and employee of the Michigan State Highway Department. Born Sept. 10, 1872 in Douglas, Ont., Mr. Smith moved from Tennessee to Oscoda County in 1914. His wife, Adelaide, whom he married in 1896, died six years ago.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Coral Mishler of Mio, and Mrs. Florence Winn of Farmington; four sons, Carmen of Mio, Lewis of St. Charles, and Jack and Ellis, both of Fairview; 18 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Brunch of Gresham, Ore.
The body is at the Larrison Funeral Home, Mio, and will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Thursday.
