Margaret E. Kelsey, age 97, of Absolute of Westfield, New York, went home to be with her Lord October 2, 2016. Margaret was born June 5, 1919 in Great Valley, New York to Carl and Alta York Abers. On August 31, 1940, she married her one and only love, Raymond C. Kelsey Sr., who passed away March 23, 1985.

In 1948, Margaret joined the West Portland Baptist Church and was an active member for 68 years, serving as deaconess and assisting with Vacation Bible Study and the WPBC Food Pantry.

Margaret was a member of the Brocton/Portland Senior Citizens, a volunteer with the MOPS of Westfield Program and COI Commodity Food Program.

Margaret worked for more than 25 years for Phillips Brothers and for several years with Fredonia Seed Company.

Margaret is survived by her son, Raymond C. (Beverly) Kelsey Jr.; nine grandchildren: Melody (John) Amidon, Jeffrey (Lynn) Kelsey, RaeAnn (Mike) Carroll, Timothy (Tangie) Collins, Stephen (Sandy) Olson, Raymond C. Kelsey III, Lynda LaMaye, Patricia (Larry) Watkins and Audrey (John) Jackson; 31 great- grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred (Burton) Bender, William (Ellen Rose) Abers, Julia (Clyde) Stockwell, Carolyn (Charles) Felt, Carl (Ellie) Abers, Jessie (Eugene) Steele and Richard A. Abers; as well as by four great-grandchildren, Heather, Ashlee, Andrew and Angel; and one great-great-grandchild, Bradley.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the West Portland Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Robertson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Stockton Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the West Portland Baptist Church.

Arrangements are by the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.
