Alice Murray neé Ekstrom passed away peacefully March 11, 2012.

Born in Yucaipa on May 29, 1923 to Sigrid and Frank Ekstrom, she was a resident of Yucaipa.

In 1949 Alice married Bill Murray and the couple served as missionaries with the Baptist General Conference (Converge World Wide) in India and Ethiopia from 1951 to 1987. They retired to Yucaipa in 1988.

After retirement Alice and Bill did several short-term missionary service terms in Ethi­opia, Philippines and Alaska, and were active in the First Baptist Church of Yucaipa.

After Bill's death in 2002, Alice continued her involvement at the First Baptist Church of Yucaipa, and actively participated in the Yucaipa Valley Historical Society where she was much appreciated for her loving ways and historical expertise.

Alice leaves behind three children?— Douglas Murray of Upland, Mark Murray and his wife Bridget of Truckee and Lou Murray Gorvett and her husband Bruce of Kitchener, Canada; three grandchildren (Harmony, Jasmine, Nathan); and two great-grandchildren (Jonas and Gwen).

She also leaves behind a multitude of friends around the world.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday March 20, at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church of Yucaipa at 34784 Yucaipa Blvd.

Arrangements are being handled through Cortner Chapel, Redlands.

In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Converge World Wide, Ethiopia
