PIONEER OF YOLO DIES AT WINTERS RESIDENCE
Sarah Anna Griffin, 79, Yolo County pioneer and wife of G.W. Griffin, former sheriff of Yolo County, died at her home in Winters yesterday afternoon at about 4 o'clock following a long illness.

Mrs. Griffin, a native of Illinois, came to California with her mother and sister when she was five years old. They followed Mrs. Griffin's father, Frank F. Brown, who came to California and settled in Yolo County several months before the remainder of the family made the trip. They came across the Isthmus of Panama.

Mrs. Griffin and George W. Griffin were married in Woodland November 9, 1873, and resided here until 1911, when they moved to Berryessa Valley, Mendocino County. Griffin was sheriff of this county for three terms, 1894 to 1906. The couple and their family moved to Winters 12 years ago and have resided there since.

Surviving Mrs. Griffin besides her husband are the following children: Ernest G. Griffin, El Segundo; Mrs. Blanche Fenner, Richmond; Clyde C Griffin, Sacramento; Glenn G. Griffin, Winters; Clarabelle Griffin, Winters; Mrs. Edna Hollingsworth, Woodland, and Mrs. Georgeanna Coil, Sacramento. Besides the children, she is survived by four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Kraft Brothers Chapel tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock, with burial following in Woodland Cemetery.

Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Woodland Christian Church and was loved by many in Woodland and every place she has resided. She made friends with everyone with whom she came in contact.
