Liberty County Times Obituary - Chester, Montana.

Word was received here last week of the death of David K. Furlong, son of Mrs.Ina Furlong of this city. David attended local schools, receiving his high school diploma while serving with the U.S.Navy aboard the USS Bremerton. After his discharge, from the Navy, David graduated from the Los Angeles Police Academy with high honors, and was currently employed by the Vernon, California police force. Death was due to an accidental gun shot wound.
David was born in Havre, Montana, December 10, 1937 and died November 2, 1969 in Bell, California. Funeral Services were held November 6 in Vernon, and the internment was in the Rose Hills cemetery in the Garden of Benediction, Whittier, California.
Survivors his widow; a son Larry K Furlong of Pico Rivera, CA, his mother, Ina M. Furlong of Chester, MT; six brothers, Russell and Miles of Chester; Philip of Denver, CO.; Edmond and Noel of Kalispell, MT; Warren of Spokane, WA.; three sisters, Lilly Eveland and Alice Morrison of Chester. and Ina-Belle Foreman of La Habra, Ca.

This is an "In Memory of" (Cenotaph) marker located here in the family cemetery in Chester, Liberty, Montana. Not sure if any of his ashes are there or if it's just commemorative.
