Obituary (Madison (MO) Times, June 6, 1918)- After a lingering illness, Mrs. Martha Jane Davis, one of the community's aged and loved mothers, passed away at her home northwest of Madison, Monday. Deceased was 87 years, 10 months and 21 days of age at death and was one of the pioneer mothers of this section. She was a member of the Christian church and a true christian neighbor and friend and her passing brings sorrow to all who knew her. Seven sons, J. C., B. U., A. Y., T. J., Oral, Gabe and Ernest Davis, three daughters, Mrs. Geo. Ellsberry, Mrs. A. L. Alexander, and Miss Zulah Davis are the surviving children. Funeral services conducted by Elder J. D. Powell, were held from the Ash Christian church Wednesday afternoon and burial was made in the Ash cemetery.
