Bill was born in Van Wert on February 24, 1922, to the late H.D. and Mary (Lorber) Dias. He married Martha J. Riblet on February 7, 1946, and she preceded him in death on June 18, 2005.
Employed by Ohio Edison for 26 years, he lived near Crestline, retiring in 1978. He and John Smarto were partners in Dias & Smarto Electricians for many years. Bill was a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the Crestline American Legion. After retiring, he and Martha spent their winters in North Fort Myers and Rockport, TX.
He is survived by his three daughters and one son, Kit (Richard) Rowlinson, Galion, M. Susan (Dean) Bower, Galion, Richard (Joy) Dias, Rockport, TX, and Nancy (Kevin) Gulley, Bucyrus. Bill is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Amy (Chuck) Coffman, Jennifer (Adam) Link, Kate (Ben) Perkins, Daniel Bower, Andrew Bower, Abby (Aaron) Wiechart, Ryan Dias, Ben (Wanda) Dias, Holly Lowmiller; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Eric Matthew Rowlinson; a granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Dias; one great-grandson, Logan Coffman; and one brother, Robert Dias.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. Funeral services for the family will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010. Burial will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens, Crestline.
