MALINTA -- Myra C. Orthwein, 102, of Malinta, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Napoleon's Lutheran Home.

She was born on April 19, 1909, in Malinta, Ohio, to Henry and Ede (Overhuls) Geist. She married Walter A. Orthwein on April 24, 1943, and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2000. Myra attended Ohio Northern University and earned a teaching certificate and the Ohio State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree. She taught home economics and English at Malinta-Grelton School for a number of years. She was a devoted farm wife. She was a life member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Flatrock Township.

Myra is survived by a sister, Isabel Aderman of Napoleon; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; a sister, Mary Mayer; and two brothers, William Geist and Donald Geist.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, March 22, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Flatrock Township, with Pastor Robert Azinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
