French spent most of his life on a stock farm in Asotin County, raising cattle and horses. He later retired to the old family home in Clarkston and was employed by the Washington Water Power Co. until retirement.
He was born June 6, 1915, in Gifford, Idaho, to Alford Henry and Anna Merra (Rich) French.
He attended several elementary schools, including Redbird in Waha, in Mountain View, Wash., and in Clarkston.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston and enjoyed tending a large vegetable and flower garden.
Survivors include three brothers, Clifford J. French and Marion A. French, both of Lewiston, and Burton L. French of Spokane.
One brother, Roscoe F. French, died previously.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston.
