Rev. John Edwin Pounds was the son of John and Betsey Elma Pounds. He was the husband of Jessie Hunter (Brown) Pounds. He was a minister in the Disciples Church. He preached at the Aetna Street Christian Church, later known as the Broadway Church. He also served the Rocky River Church of Christ, since renamed the Lakewood Christian Church. He was known as a "City Evangelist. "He was Supt. of City Missions in Cuyahoga County for the Ohio Christian Missionary Society.

MINISTER KILLED IN VERO AUTO COLLISION
Vero, Fla - Rev. John E. Pounds of Hiram, Ohio, was killed this morning when the automobile which he was driving collided with another car on the outskirts of the city. Stanley S. Walker, of Vero, was the driver of the other car.
