"OBITUARY"


CASSOPOLIS , Mich,-Warren Arthur "W.A." "Dude" Dixon Sr., 88, of Cassopolis, died Dec. 1, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 3, 1923, to Frank and Leona (Trout) Dixon in Mt. Vernon, Ill. He married Alberta May Williams in Elkhart, Ind., in 1942. She preceded him in death. He married Donna Lee Johnson in Elkhart. She preceded him in death in 2010.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three children, June Ann White, John Johnson and Tosha Ann Johnson Black; and four brothers, Paul Dixon, Walter Dixon, Andy Dixon and Leonard Dixon.

W.A. was a World War II Veteran who served in the Army from 1943 to 1945 and was involved in campaigns in Sicily, Normandy, northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes. Following his discharged in 1948 he enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve. After he retired he started a business repairing tools. He also liked to hunt and fish.

Dude is survived by his children, Robert Dixon of Middlebury, Ind., Paul and (Mary) Dixon of Grass Lake, Ind., Jerry (Janice) Dixon of Washburn, Ill., Ronald (Kathy) Dixon of Bartow, F., Donald "Bubba" Dixon, Amy Marie (Matt) Johnson Ott and Charles Michael Johnson, all of Elkhart, and Catherine Johnson Price of Goshen, Ind.; several grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Ashley of Cassopolis.

Family and friends will gather from 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dac. 5, 2011, at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis. Funeral and committal services will follow at 1 P.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Mich. with full honors.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Connelly Chapel, Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
