Henry was the son of Sophie (Jorstad) Nesterhouse [Westerhouse] of Fort Scott, Kansas. After the death of his parents, he and his siblings (Axel and Inga) were adopted by their aunt and uncle, Ole and Bertina Jorstad. They were reared in Ridgeland, WI.
His sister, Inga, is now the wife of Fred Link of the town of Dallas, Barron County. Henry and Axel are now conducting the Jorstad General Store.
