Uncle Jimmy was a very dapper man! He was always neat and tidy and seemed a cut above the rest. He joined the Army Air Corps before the Second World War and met my Aunt Irene around that time. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He told me a funny story about being sent to the commisary by the officers to get some pies after hours. He managed to get in and get them, but ran into a group of MP's on the way back (remember, carring a tray of pies) and had to jump into a ditch to get away while they shot at him. He did not drop a single pie. He served in the Air Force National Guard until the 80's, and worked at Western Electic in Cicero, Illinois. Was active in Jaycee's and Hygipts. During some heavy rains when teh Des Plaines River was rising he went out and helped lay sandbags in Riverside. He was that kind of guy. He did volunteer stuff at teh VA Hospital, called Bingo and things. Very good man.
