died May 6, 2004, at Florida Hospital-DeLand. Calling hours were 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 10, at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, 126 E. New York Ave. in DeLand.
The funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, in the Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel, 126 E. New York Ave. in DeLand, with the Rev. Bill Tate officiating.
Burial was at DeLand Memorial Gardens, 600 E. Beresford Ave., which followed the service.
Mrs. Hamer was a former secretary for Calvary Baptist Church in her birthplace of DeLand.
She moved to Hialeah in 1958, and moved back to DeLand from Hialeah in 1977.
She was a 1952 graduate of DeLand High School.
Mrs. Hamer was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Mike; two daughters, Susan Halsey and Patty Kennedy, both of DeLand;
three brothers, Walter Pounds of DeLand, Douglas Pounds of Kennesaw, Ga., and Wayne Pounds of Belleville, Ill.;
one sister, Myra Stone of DeLand; four grandchildren, Betsy Burris, Kurtis Kennedy, Cathy Halsey and David Kennedy; and two great-grandchildren, Drew Burris and Dylan Burris.
