POQUOSON - Olas G. "Oak" Creasman Sr., 86, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012.
He was a native of Haywood County, N.C., and a Poquoson resident for 11 years. He retired from the Welding Dept., at Newport News Shipbuilding in 1969 after 17 years, and then worked as a carpenter until 1990. He was a Baptist.
Oak was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, a son-in-law, and a grandson, Joey Lee Creasman.
He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Creasman; two sons, Olas G. Creasman Jr. and Chris Creasman; four daughters, Lorrine Brewer (Jim), Marilyn Earley (Ron), Jennifer Graham (Neal), and Marty Forrest (Ken); nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; seven sisters; and best friends, William Bulles and Abie Rowe.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, at Poquoson Baptist Church, immediately followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., by the Rev. John Pouchot. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. At other times, the family will be at 84 Church St., Poquoson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Poquoson Baptist Church Building Fund, 283 Wythe Creek Rd., Poquoson, VA 23662; or the Autism Society of Central Virginia, P.O. Box 29364, Richmond, VA 23242.
