She went home to the farm at New Hope and lived her early years there going to grade school at New Hope School. She was the oldest of five chil-dren. She went to Normal School at Kearney State College to become a teacher and began teaching in the fall of 1937.

After teaching for a few years she married Harold Rosentrater Oct. 6, 1940, in Arnold at her dad's house. On March 10, 1943, they had their first son, Eugene Harold who only lived a couple of days. She enjoyed life on the farm with Harold for 42 years and continued living there for 20 more years after his death. 62 years in one house. They faithfully attended Tallin Union Church served in the community and milked dairy cows for many years. In 1945, Darwin Lee was born.
