Mrs. Mary Bliss Montgomery, widow of Rev. George W. Montgomery, D.D., who was for many years pastor of the First Universalist Church, died at the family home, 111 Chestnut street, Sunday morning [29 Sep 1912]. Mrs. Montgomery was born at East Avon, Livingston county, November 21, 1825. On September 9, 1847 she was married to Rev. Montgomery and they came to occupy the house on Chestnut street, where she lived continuously for sixty-five years.
Two sons and one daughter were born to them: George B. Montgomery, who died [on 29 Apr 1898, only 12 days after his father], and Frank M. Montgomery and Miss Carrie Montgomery, who are living. During her husband's pastorate Mrs. Montgomery was active in church affairs and her services won for her a wide circle of friends.

She was the daughter of Giles Bishop Bliss and Hannah Pease, both of whom died tragically early, only in their 30's.
