Ruth Lorena Sevdy, 96, a longtime Pullman resident, died of age-related causes Monday at the Palouse Hills Nursing Center in Pullman.
She was born April 14, 1897, at Glenwood, near Colfax, to Marshall and Carrie Lyda Vreeland Elliott. She grew up near Elberton and attended Eden Valley rural school.
She married Leslie Ingram Sevdy on Sept. 15, 1914, at Colfax. The couple moved to Beeler, Idaho, near Kellogg, and lived there two years before returning to Whitman County.
In 1918, they moved to Pullman and owned and operated Sevdy's Modern View Mobile Court until retiring in 1964. Her husband died Aug. 14, 1965.
Sevdy was a member of the Pullman-Moscow Seventh-day Adventist Church, Women of the Moose, Neighborly Neighbors and the Pullman Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and entertaining at her home.
Survivors include four daughters, Vina Belle Ward of Spokane, Velma Mary Coppedge of Everett, Wash., Sharon Kay Knight of Richland, Ore. and Lorena Mae Lindley of Yelm, Wash.; a son, Loren Leslie Sevdy of Vancouver, Wash.; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and sevengreat-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Donna Jean Harris, and a son, Norvin Sevdy, died previously.
The funeral will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Kimball Funeral Home at Pullman. Burial will follow at the Pullman City Cemetery.
