He died at 10 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2001, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.
A native of Johnstown, Pa., he was born Nov. 3, 1929, the son of the late Thomas E. and Mary. Edna McCabe O'Connell. He was an Army and a Navy veteran and had served in World War II and the Korean War. He was retired as district manager of the Hopkinsville office of the Kentucky Department of Revenue. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. His wife, Betty Lynn O'Connell, preceded him in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda F. West, Hopkinsvllle, Marie S. McCollum, Russellville, Patricia Cowan, Olmstead; a sister, Genevieve Vanmeter, Madison, Ind., and eight grandchildren.
