Stewart Edward White was an early 20th century author of fiction and non-fiction books dealing with travel and outdoor adventure.White was a close friend of President Theodore Roosevelt,who called him "the best man with both pistol and rifle who ever shot" after watching him at the range at Roosevelt's Sagamore Hill home.In 1927,the Boy Scouts of America made White an Honorary Scout and during the 1950's,several episodes were produced for the TV show The Wonderful World of Disney based on White's work.Stewart White was a graduate of the University of Michigan and Columbia University. In 1903,he married Elizabeth Grant and he served as an officer in the 144th Field Artillery in United States Army during World War I.
