Frederick, or "Chris" as he came to be called by all his friends, was born on March 10, 1930 in Ontario, California, to Frederick Henry Sr. and Minnie Christensen.
Chris grew up in Southern California and graduated from Chaffey High School in 1948, and later from Chaffey College. He married Barbara Ann Schwartz on February 25, 1951. Chris served in the United States Marine Corps in 1952. In 1959, he moved his family to Chico, California, where he loved the people and its park. Chris owned Chris Building Maintenance for 17 years and later retired from Chico State University in 1995. Barbara preceded Chris into death on June 10, 1973 after 22 years of marriage.
In 1974, Chris married Winifred Saylors and is survived today by Winnie after 34 years of marriage.
Chris loved all sports, especially excelling in football, and his sons can fondly remember their dad pacing the sidelines, and hearing their dad letting the officials know when they had made the wrong call! Chris loved to travel throughout California and especially loved the California and the Oregon Coast. Chris always loved his early morning coffee and doughnuts with the gang.
Chris is survived by his three children, Steve of Sandy, Utah, Ron of Chico, California, and Karen (Adams) of Prospect, Oregon; two stepdaughters, Sharon Echelberger of Chester, California and Cindy Panknin of Thorton, Colorado. He leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
No memorial service is planned. Published in Chico Enterprise-Record on September 23, 2008.
