Mrs. Garnett's Funeral Friday
Dies in Nashville early this morning

Mrs. Mary Ann Forbes Garnett, wife of Marion Holland Garnett, of the Clarksville Pike, died this morning at 1 o'clock at the Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

Mrs. Garnett had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at her residence on Aug. 28, and was treated at Jennie Stuart Hospital. Her condition improved and she returned home. Last Sunday she suffered a recurring hemorrhage and was removed to the hospital at Nashville, for an operation from which she never recovered.

Mrs. Garnett was the daughter of James M. Forbes, now of Clarksville, Tenn., and of the late Dixie Bass Forbes, both former prominent residents of this city. Her grandparents, Madison C. Forbes, and Oscar L. Bass, Sr. were outstanding business leaders in this community. She was born July 1, 1912, in this city, was graduated from Bethel Cllege, attended Chevy Chase College in Washington D.C., and was married to Marion H. Garnett, on Dec. 27, 1931.

Mrs Garnett was a woman of charming and friendly disposition, active in the support of all community endeavors, a devoted wife and mother, and numbered a host of friends. She was a member of the Longview Methodist Church and fully supported the church in all its activities, being teacher of the primary department and vice president of the Women's Society of Chrustian Service.

In addition to her husband and her father, Mrs. Garnett is survived by her four children, Betsy Ann Garnett, Jane Forbes Garnett, Martha Soyars Garnett, and Marion Holland Garnett Jr.: by her aunts, Mrs. J. M. Hancock of this city, Mrs. Katherine (Bass) Hays of Summer Shade, Ky., and Mrs. Margaret (Bass) Stone of Columbus, Ohio; and by numerous cousins.

The body is resting at the Garnett home, where funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 10 o'clock by Mrs. Garnett's pastor, the Rev S. J. Henninger. Burial will be at Riverside.

Pallbearers will be John Pinson Rives, Charles Rives, Myron Pool, Barney Pool, Clayborne Walton, Kendrick Van Cleve, Dennis Cannon, and Kyle Bruce.
