Hal S. Durham, 64, of Hutchinson, died March 23, 2012, at his home. Hal was born Sept. 11, 1947, in Hutchinson, the son of Malvin Nelson and Pauline Edwards Durham.
Hal was a lifelong Hutchinson resident, having graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1965 and Hutchinson Community College. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968 and served in the Vietnam War. He was wounded twice in action and was awarded a double Purple Heart. Hal was a longtime employee at Cessna Fluid Power, now Eaton Corp. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #982 in Hutchinson.
He is survived by a sister, Marsha Durham and her husband Anthony Marshall of New South Wales, Australia. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary, with the Rev. Jim Rhaesa presiding. A register book may be signed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Inurnment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hutchinson Public Library or to the donor's choice, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson KS 67501.
