Farmed in Williams County, ND for a number of years. Also worked as a carpenter on the Ft. Peck Dam in Montana and the Garrison Dam in North Dakota. Moved to California in 1950 and worked as a civil service employee (carpenter) at the US Coast Guard Base on Terminal Island (San Pedro), California. Moved to Woodburn, Oregon in 1963, where he went back to farming. Retired 1979 and became a resident of Yuma, Arizona. During the summers from 1979 until his death, he RV'd over the western half of the United States with his wife, enjoying many hours of fishing, rock hounding, camping, reading, and visiting with family and friends.
