Born in Choupique, Louisiana, he lived in Louisiana until he moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 1945.
He worked at Texaco from August 1944 until he retired in 1972. Prior to that he worked for Consolidated Ship Builders and W. T. Burton.
He was a prominent member of the church, having served on many boards and committees. He will be most remembered for his monthly breakfasts cooked for the United Methodist Men and their guests.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Benoit; one daughter, Marie Blazevich and her husband Carl; one son, Dr. Cecil R. Benoit and former wife, Anne H. Benoit; five grandchildren, Joel Benoit, Jonathan Benoit, Mrs. Kimberly Zeno, Gregory Blazevich and Mrs. Nicole Trimble; seven great grandchildren and three great- great grandchildren; one brother, Lennie Benoit.
