She fought bravely the battle of Leukemia
Sharrolyn Anne Reed, age 65, of Joplin, Mo., previously of Tahlequah, Okla. and Midwest City, Okla., passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Freeman Hospital following a courageous battle with leukemia.
Sharrolyn was born on Aug. 5, 1946, in Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of the late Elwood P. and Frances (Thompson) Harkins.
Sharrolyn was a devout Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker and ran a daycare out of her home in Midwest City for over 20 years. Sharrolyn moved to Joplin three years ago. She was a member of the 26th and Connecticut Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert Reed, whom she married on Feb. 17, 1967, in Springdale, Ark. Additional survivors include her daughter, Kristy Hoggatt and her husband, Dale, of Carl Junction, Mo.; her son, Woody Reed and his fiancé, Amy Brown, of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren, Audrey and Silas; one brother, Frankie Harkins and his wife, Linda, of Midwest City; and two sisters, Joyce Kendall and her husband, Addison, of Diamond, Mo., and Reda Rogers, of Iowa City, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services have been scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 3, at the 26th and Connecticut Church of Christ. Richard Chambers and Jake King will officiate. Burial will follow at 12 p.m. Wednesday April 4, in the Blackoak Church of Christ Cemetery in Winslow, Ark.
Memorial contributions may be given in Sharrolyn's name to either the Colorado Christian Services or MD Anderson Cancer Center in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
