George Franklin Penfield was the oldest son of Samuel Franklin Penfield and Lemira Briggs Clark. He was in partnership with his father in the business of Real Estate and Insurance and was quite successful.
On the 21st of December 1875 he married Adelaide Frances Sherman. They had six children:

*Albert Charles (1880-1912)
*Ruth Adelaid (1884-1975)
*Dorothy Frances (1887-1976)
*George Edward (1888-1965)
*Adelaide Melvina (1891-)
George died at 59 years of age of Locomotor ataxia, which was caused by degeneration of the posterior (dorsal) white column of the spinal cord.
