Major Cordero was the son of the late Walter and Helen Cordero of Santa Barbara. He was the brother of Dorothy. He graduated from Santa Barbara Catholic High School in 1953 and Loyola University of Los Angeles in 1957 and was active in the USAF ROTC. He was navigator on a B-57 Canberra when it crashed in Laos in 1965. His remains were returned in May 1969. He was survived by his wife Kathleen, and five children. They are William, Jr, Theresa, Anthony, Richard, and James.
