Mrs. Samuel Duncan, of Garfield neighborhood, died in a Hutchinson hospital last Thursday night. She was taken sick one week before with appendicitis and had been taken to the hospital by her husband for an operation. Death ensued from rupture of the gall and the exhaustion of the operation. The remains were brought home by the husband last Friday and were interred in the Garfield cemetery Sunday after services from the Garfield Congregational church, by Rev. Izzard.
The maiden name of the deceased was Rhoda Ann Harrison. She was born in Brown county, Kansas, April 1, 1864, but moved to Carroll county, Missouri, with her parents, where she was married to Samuel Duncan on Christmas, 1879. Nine children were born to this union: six sons and three daughters, all of whom are living. The family moved to Wilson county, Kansas, in 1883, and from there to Pawnee county in the fall of '99, locating at their present home in Pleasant Ridge.
The children are Mrs. C.J. Hawkins, of this city, Mrs. W.F. Linn, of Interior, S.D., William, Ray, Russell, Guy, Paul and Miss Ruth Duncan, who are all at home, and Walter Duncan whose present whereabouts are unknown.
