Dean E. Kendall, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 30, 2012. He was born on March 3, 1924 in Terre Haute, IN to Clyde and Pearl (Bryant) Kendall.

Dean was an active member of Friedens United Church of Christ, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He compiled the book, "The History of the Wabash Valley Basketball Tournament". He participated in several basketball tournaments from 1917-1972, and his letterman sweater is on display in the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Dean was a volunteer for the Cheer guild at Riley Hospital.
He owned Modern Business Service, which later merged with Sports Graphics.

Dean is survived by his son, Mark L. (Cathy) Kendall; two grandchildren, Lauren M. Kendall, and Michael E. Kendall.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine C. "Rae" Kendall; and daughter, Diane Kendall.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN.
A funeral service will be officiated by Pastors Marc Hayden and Sarah Haas on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 10:00 am at Friedens United Church of Christ, 8300 S. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN. Additional visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service at the church.

Dean will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
