On December 23, 1916, she was united in marriage to Jim Tongen of Hazel Run. To this union five sons were born, namely, Lucius of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Jerold, who was killed on Negro's Island in World War II, Harlan of Hopkins, Minnesota, Willard of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Omar of Boyd, Minnesota.
The family farmed in the Hazel Run, Montevideo and Milan areas. After the death of her husband in 1964, she lived in Clarkfield a number of years and then moved to Brookside Manor in Montevideo. After a few months, her health began to fail and she moved to the Clarkfield Care Center.
She passed away at the Clarkfield Hospital November 21, 1971, after being hospitalized for two months, at the age of 77 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; one son, Jerold; and one brother, Ernest.
She leaves to mourn her passing, four sons; seventeen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers: Alvin of Clarkfield, Murl of Hazel Run, and Reed of California; four sisters: Cynthia (Mrs. August Tongen) of Montevideo, Gladys (Mrs. Raymond Dotseth) of Clarkfield, Myrtle (Mrs. Hewitt Smith) of Yuma, Arizona, and Genevieve (Mrs. Robert LaCount) of Jamacia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
