Excerpt from Charles B. Heinemann's book; WATTS FAMILIES. Descended from early immigrants who settled in the Tidewater Counties in Virginia; p. 137; John Watts, born 05/12/1766: died 10/01/1839. Evidently he moved to Kentucky and settled in Bourbon County. There is a record showing that John Watts and his brother, Robert Watts, gave power of attorney, 08/25/1801, to Hubbard Taylor to sell 200 acres of land in Bourbon County, Kentucky. This land had belonged to Joseph Chew under warrant 602, and had been surveyed 06/21/1794. This record is from Kentucky Court of Appeals Book O, p. 140.

He married Elizabeth Jacoby in Bourbon County, Kentucky, 01/08/1795. She was born 07/04/1777; died 02/14/1897. She was born in Culpepper County, Virginia and died in Pike County, Missouri. She was the daughter of John Francis Lucas Jocoby, and his second wife Joanna Frederica Loetspeich. Francis Jacoby died in Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1788. He had moved to Kentucky from Culpepper County, Virginia. John Watts continued to reside in Bourbon County until moving to Pike County, Missouri in 1816. His son-in-law, James Stark, accompanied him and they settled on Ramsey Creek. The history of Pike County refers to him as Major John Watt's, but this has not been verified.

The graves of John and Elizabeth Jacoby, Watts, are in a cemetery on a high hill above Ramsey Creek, on private property. Both on the same stone, were the names-with no other carving legible. Will in land book records office of Recorder, Pike County, Missouri, book O(G), p. 49 and also in office of Probate Court, book B, p. 255. Shows the children eight in number.

Per notes, provided by Lucille Grimes. The John Watts will, is in the Clark County, will book 7, p.71. She lists 11 children of John and Elizabeth Jacoby, Watts union. However, in Charles Heinemann's work, p. 141, it shows a will of John Watts, as recorded in Office of Probate Court book B, p. 255, Pike County, Missouri, which shows eight children.
CLark County vs. Pike County. Which family is correct??
