Mary Ellen "Peggy" Ausherman, 84, formerly of Shookstown, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010, at College View Center. She was the wife of the late Gilmore L. "Pete" Ausherman.
Born in Mount Pleasant on Aug. 29, 1925, Peggy was the daughter of the late Rena (Snyder) and John T. DeGrange. After her husband's death in 1973, Peggy went to work as a saleslady for Woolco, Murphy Mart and then Ames, retiring in 2000.
She was a past member of the Shookstown Sewing Club, enjoyed cooking and had a green thumb for growing flowers.
Survivors include her two sons, Wayne C. Ausherman and wife, Jane A., of Frederick, and Terry D. Ausherman and wife, Donna M., of Shookstown; four grandchildren, Eric W. Ausherman and wife, Nicole, John D. Ausherman, Jeffrey David Ausherman and wife, Eileen, and Jennifer Lynn Ausherman; and one great-grandchild, Mary Ann Ausherman. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, John and Charles DeGrange and Ed and Paul Wentzel.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lloyd Fuss officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Peterson, Rodney Masser, James Hannigan and her three grandsons, Eric, John and Jeffrey.
