Jerry Steven Long of Eugene, died April 16 of heart failure. He was 51.

Jerry was born July 29, 1952, in Arcata, Calif., to Jack and Jean Adkins Long.

He served in the Navy from 1971 until 1973. He settled in this area in 1982.

He received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Oregon in 1990.

He worked as a Fannie Mae loan officer in San Francisco from 1973 until 1980. He worked in the property management field for JSL Properties from 1986 until this year.

He was an avid Duck fan and he enjoyed growing cactus and other plants. He especially enjoyed his friends.

Survivors include his mother of Springfield; two brothers, Gary Olson of Springfield and John Long of Eugene; and a sister, Melody Allgeier of Kentucky.
