Myrtle Lawson Jeffers, 95, of Pineville, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at her home. She was born on January 11, 1917, a daughter of the late Jesse and Lydia Gibson Lawson. Myrtle was a member of Hosman Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 68 years, Carl Jeffers, children Roma Jean Jeffers and Jimmy Dale Jeffers; grandchildren, Rebecca Hammons and Mark Wilder; great-grandson, Christopher Childers; brothers, Melford and Ruby; sisters, Cloda, Flora, Rozilla and Dena and four sons-in-law.

Survivors include her children, Dorothy Gray of Bimble, KY; Lucille Wilder of Cincinnati, OH; Elmer Jeffers and wife, Beulah of Pineville, KY; Carletta Maltby and husband, Jimmy of Beardstown, IL; Brenda Dawson of Aurora, IL; Sandra Hembree and husband, Curt of Pineville, KY and Jerry Jeffers and wife, Geraldine of Middlesboro, KY; a granddaughter she raised as her own, Carlene Harrell and husband, Butch of New Tazewell, TN; twenty-two grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren; thirty-two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Christine Marlow of Dallas, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nola and Darrell Pursifull of Macon, GA and Roy and Daisy Jeffers of Barbourville, KY and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Wilder, Rev. Bill Helton and Rev. Mike Burns. Music will be by Andrea Muncy accompanied by Jackie Merritt.

Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tony and Jackie Merritt, Dude and Michael Wilder, Jimmy and Harold Maltby, Brent and Brian Dawson and Robie Jeffers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Hosman Baptist Church, neighbors and Hospice of the Bluegrass.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 9 PM Wednesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Jeffers Family.
