Mr. Lawrence "Johnny" Tuggle, age 77, of Swords Creek, Virginia passed away Sunday (April 1, 2012) at a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born November 11, 1934 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Matthew Seymore and Ollie Lee Dye Tuggle. He had spent most of his life in the area and was a member of Perkins Chapel in Swords Creek, Virginia. He was employed as a supervisor for S & S Machine Shop and had served his country in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Claude B. Tuggle, Cecil Tuggle, Edward Tuggle, Glen Tuggle and twin brother, Arch Tuggle; five sisters, Audrey Dye, Dorothy Meade, Trula Dye, Beulah Rolen and Lucy Baldwin.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Tuggle of the home; step-son, Mike Ward and wife, Donna; step-grandchildren, Whitley Ward of Seneca, South Carolina, Chasity Ramsey and husband, James of Swords Creek, Virginia and Willie Short and husband, Zandria of Bristol, Tennessee; two step-great-grandchildren, Madison Ramsey and Samuel Ramsey both of Swords Creek ,Virginia; one brother, James Burton Tuggle of Columbus, Ohio; special friends, Chester and Darlene Whited and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Ray, Rev. Junior Ray and Rev. Larry Dye officiating. Interment will follow in the Tuggle Cemetery near the home.
Relatives and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Tuesday and Wednesday.
