Virgie Viola Abbott Key, 93, passed away March 30, 2012, at West Place Nursing Home in Athens, Texas. She was born January 8, 1919, at Groveton, Trinity County, Texas, to Albert and Pearl Hall Abbott. She was married to G. D. Key, and they had three children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G. D., and her son, Danny. She was also preceded in death by three brothers - Zane, Emmett, and Clint.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, and her son and daughter-in-law, She is also survived by her sister, and grandchildren. She is also survived by two nephews and a niece, as well as five great grandchildren, and several grand nephews and grand nieces.

Virgie enjoyed the country life, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was also an avid painter. She was a member of Zion Hill Assembly of God Church in Athens, Texas.

A graveside service will be held at Moorehead-Melton Cemetery, Eustace, Texas, on April 2, 2012 at 11:00 am. Eubank Funeral Home, Canton, Texas, is handling arrangements.
