NEWPORT NEWS - Bobby Lee Akers, 55, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998. Mr. Akers was born in North Carolina and was a lifelong resident of the Peninsula. He was a self-employed carpenter and craftsman.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Lynn Phillips, Michelle Marie Jackson and Teresa Brock, all of Hampton, and Bonnie Denice Phillips of North Carolina; sons, Walter Lee Akers of Yorktown and Christopher Michael Akers of Hampton; mother, Mattie W. Akers of Hampton; brother, John Akers of Hampton; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Tower of Memories in Peninsula Memorial Park with the Rev. Chip Giessler officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. Edition: Final
