Cain died, June 15, 1927. For the past ten years Mrs. Cain has made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Burbach, having come to Almena four years ago. On November 8, Mrs. Cain fell and broke her hip, and was confined to her bed, where she resigned herself to God's will and bore her suffering patiently until her death.
She was a model of Christian motherhood and leaves to mourn, two daughters: Mother M. Zita Cain of Springfield, IL and Mrs. Gussie Burbach of Almena; also three sons: Francis J. of Spalding, NE , J. Vincent of Wilber, NE and Anthony B. of Baltimore, MD; twenty-four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Requiem High Mass was held at St. Francis Catholic Church in Norton, KS, where Father Weigel officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery at Alma, NE, beside her husband, where Father Schmitz of Alma conducted the services. The pallbearers were Harry Luther, Joseph Kass, Mr. Morin, Phil Willy, William Dunlay. and Ed Lennemann, all of Orleans, NE. The out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Francis Cain, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Cain and daughter Margaret Mary Cain.
NOTE: Anthony (Tony) and Mother M. Zita were home on visit while their Mother was ill, therefore did not return for the funeral.
