Jimmy Ray Acord, 68, of San Antonio, died on Friday, December 28, 2007. He was born on July 1, 1939 in San Antonio to George and Gladys Upton Acord. He worked as a certified welder in the commercial transportation industry for over 40 years. He spent his weekends and hunting seasons in Cotulla and Los Angeles, Texas where he was well known by many people. Survivors include his wife Rosa Acord of Cotulla; sons James Acord of San Antonio, Luis Garcia and wife Erica of Austin; daughters Sonya and husband Frank Lafferty of Devine, Mary Jean and husband Michael Garcia of Cotulla and Magda and husband Reynaldo Narvaiz of Cotulla; 7 grandchildren; brothers Jerry Acord, Joseph Acord, Richard Acord, Mike Acord, Bobby Acord and Skeeter Acord; sisters Mary Reimschissel, Tommie Jean Albrecht, Debbie Myers, Barbara Evins, Shirley Albeacht, Mary Asher and Judy Salisbury all of San Antonio and surrounding area. His parents George and Gladys Acord and brothers John "Bobo" and Terry Acord preceded him in death.
Rosary was held on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the Peters Funeral Home in Cotulla. Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cotulla. Interment followed at the Cotulla East Cemetery. Pallbearers were Luis Garcia, Reynaldo Narvaiz, Frank Lafferty, Darrin Lafferty, James Acoard, Michael Weaver, Jerry Acord, Bobby Acord and Mike Acord. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Peters Funeral Home in Cotulla.Jimmy married Annette Peterson. They had one son, James. They divorced and Jimmy married Rosa Acord. Jimmy was an avid hunter, a fantastic welder. He had 15 brothers and sisters.
