She was the daughter of Jane Hensley and George Bailes. (I always thought her maiden name was "Bales" or "Bayles", but it was spelled "Bailes" on my Grandparents' Marriage License.)

She was born in Euchee, Meigs County, Tennessee. I have no more information about the Bailes family and no one ever spoke about them. I would love to know more if anyone has information and is willing to share.

WE have up to ten or more generations on all other sides of our family but I have not found or heard anything about my Great Grandmother, whom my Dad and his siblings (and us) always called "Mammy".

The Owen branch is the only branch of my family that never talked about their ancestors. My Aunt is 85 and my Uncle is 82, and they know no more than I do about them, never questioned where their people were, what they did, or anything about them. Inconceivable to me, as my Maternal Grandmother talked of little else except family connections and genealogy.
