Ellen was born Nov. 1, 1918, in Seattle to John and Lydia Paajanen Lindstrom. She married Ray Byers in Port Angeles, Wash., in 1939. He died in 1989.
She lived on the Olympic Peninsula until 1946, when she moved to Eugene. She settled in Scappoose in 1994.
She worked at Montgomery Ward and as a secretary at Willamette High School. She later worked at Automatic Heat before retiring from Lane County.
She was a member of the American Finnish Friends Society. She enjoyed reading and dining out with her friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Jayne Weis of Rainier; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Burial at Mount Angeles Memorial Park in Port Angeles. Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens was in charge of arrangements.
