CISCO -- Thelma Babb Ewell, age 95, of Cisco, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Eastland Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be Friday, May 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Fitzgerald officiating.
Burial will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery.
Thelma was born May 26, 1908 in Santa Anna, Texas to James W. Babb and Pearl (Hunter) Babb 96 years ago. Her father was a longtime West Texas retail merchant. She moved with her family to Abilene in 1916 where she finished school, graduating from Abilene High School in 1926. She then married James Hugh Ewell, Sr. in 1927 and in 1939, they relocated with their three children to Cisco. She supplied eggs, milk, butter, and goodwill to her Cisco neighbors up until a year prior to her death. In her later years, she worked at the Calvary Baptist Church nursery supplying love to the children. She then went on to do the same for First Baptist Church for almost eight years.
She was preceded in death by her husband and only daughter, Joan Ewell.
Survivors include two sons, James Hugh Ewell, Jr. and daughter- in-law Ruby of Desoto and David Babb Ewell of Cisco; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was an angel on earth who touched many lives and was loved by all who knew her. We will miss her dearly, but rejoice in the fact that the Lord is truly happy to have her home.
