After arriving in the United States, Catherine, with her parents moved to Battle Creek,IA; then to Ute, where my mother, Iola Augusta Rickman, attended school until they moved to Dallas,SD. About 1912 they moved to Sioux City. Grandma had a stroke after working hard in her garden. The doctor was called, but there was no money for her to go to the hospital. She could not speak and was paralyzed. She lived only a short time after that.
