Sherman Elmer Duke is the 4th child and oldest son of Raymond Eugene Duke and Zelma Ione Ward Duke. He is the brother of Nellie, Lois, Barbara, Marvin, Faye, Brenda, Ivanette, Eloise and Freeman Duke. Sherman married Barbara Jeanette Loggins December 22, 1956. They have two children, Danny Ray Duke and Lisa Gaye Duke. He is the grandfather of Jonathan Ray Duke and Joseph Wade Duke-Kimbrell and the great-grandfather of Aurora Delaney Duke. Sherman and Jeanette made their home and raised their family in Roswell ( Millvillage ). He was a member of the Baptist faith and was well known around Roswell as a kind man and a man that many looked up to. There are not enough kind words to describe what Sherman means to his family and friends. One of his nephews Ron said it best " He's the best man I ever knew ".
