Eliza Adeline Bacon was born to Hiram and Anna Holbrook Bacon in Canton, Connecticut. She married Jesse Head in 1859 in Connecticut, then they settled in Kansas. She was the mother of five children:


Emma Eliza Head (1860 – 1914)

Hattie Eudora Head (1862 – 1892)

a son (1863 – died in infancy)

Anna Matilda Head (1866 – 1888)

Hannah Rosa Lettie Head (1868 – 1956)


Her siblings were:



Harlow Bacon (1822 – 1877)

Eleanor Bacon (1826 – )

Hannah Bacon (1830 – 1916)

The body of Mrs. Eliza Head, the widow of Jesse Head, was brought here from Osage City Tuesday and interment made in Maplewood cemetery. She was seventy years of age and is survived by two children. Her husband died about five weeks ago and was also buried here. Mr. Head was for years a car driver on the old Emporia street car line and was well known here. About ten years ago they moved to Osage City.
