Barbara Ann Laffoon, age 76, of Stover, passed away, Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Laurie Care Center. She was born March 20, 1935, in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of the late Edward Harrison and Mary Elvira Gimlin Powell.

On June 21, 1969, in Jefferson City, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Laffoon, who survives of the home.

Barbara worked for Jim Otten as a real estate broker in Cole Camp for many years, also worked as a legal secretary for Victor Jeffries in Lebanon, and co-owned and operated Wigwam Sales with her husband for 15 years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lebanon, and was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi.

She enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables with her father-in-law, and planting and taking care of her many flower beds.

In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she is survived by her son, Sandy Laffoon of Sunrise Beach; her daughter, Rollinda Ann Wood and husband Roger of Mansfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Lori, Shannon, and Sandra; her sister, Velma Breshears of Springfield, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Rodney D. "R.D." Flood, her brothers, James Powell, Clell Powell and Estell Powell, and her sister, Pauline Brooks.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Graveside services and interment will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, at the Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
